CaptionsON is so convinced that captions will have a positive impact on someone in your life, we are issuing the CaptionsON Challenge.
We’re looking for stories that demonstrate the many ways captioning can affect lives — relationships, work, play, communication — and invite new and experienced caption viewers to take our challenge and submit a story. The winner may be used in an upcoming media campaign and will be announced on this website.
Step 1
Turn on captions for one week – just seven days – and leave them on.
Step 2
Come back here at the end of the week and let us know how it went – positive or not. All entries must be made via this website through the link below.
It’s that simple …
Come on, give us a week – you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Take The Challenge
Don’t have a week? Then try these mini-challenges for a more impactful and beneficial viewing experience:
- When watching your favorite show, turn both the sound and the captions OFF for three minutes — that’s right, turn the audio off and see if you can hold out for three minutes. Experience programming without the benefit of captions.
- Your children want to watch television? No problem – when the television goes on so do the captions – that’s the deal. Captions will improve your child’s reading skills.
- Think you are a great multi-tasker? Try watching a program with captions and give your mind a great work-out.
- Captions aren’t on in the doctor’s office … or the televisions in a long-term care facility you are visiting … or at your favorite bar/restaurant – ask them to turn them ON.
- Tired of ads for your favorite products not being captioned? Let us know and we will make certain the company and their advertising agency know – simply click on “Let Us Hear From You”, and tell us about a commercial you saw without captions.
And remember, if the quality of captions is not the level you expect – and deserve – make your voice heard and register your concerns through our Viewer Relations Bureau.
